Parfum
Parfum has the highest fragrance oil concentration, making it the most expensive among others, with a fragrance oil concentration of about 20% - 30%, making it last longer than the other types and a stronger scent that distinguishes it from the rest of perfume types.
Eau De Parfum
The next highest concentration of fragrance is the Eau de parfum which has a fragrance oil concentration of around 15% - 20%. It is referred to as parfum sometimes but has more alcohol and a lighter oil concentration. It is quite a strong type of perfume and last for about 6 to 8 hours. It is one of the commonly found perfumes, quite less expensive than perfum and preferable for sensitive skin.
Eau De Toilette
Eau de toilette is from the French term, 'faire sa toilette' which, when interpreted, means getting ready. It is a type of perfume taken as daywear by some, just as perfume is taken as nightwear. Eau de toilette contains 5% - 15% fragrance oil concentration and is cheaper than eau de parfum. It lasts for about 2 to 3 hours as it has lower oil concentration and high alcohol content, it’s more popular during summer.
Eau De Cologne
Eau de Cologne is a type of perfume which has a lower concentration of fragrance than Parfum, Eau De Parfum and Eau De Toilette. It has more alcohol content and about 2% - 4% fragrance concentration. It is quite less expensive and lasts for about 2 hours. However, it was primarily formulated for those who prefer a lighter variation of a certain fragrance but later became more of a male fragrance, though some female fragrances are still considered.
Eau De Fraiche
The cheapest and least concentrated of the mentioned perfume types is the Eau de Fraiche. They otherwise recognized it as water concentration. It has a lower oil concentration of about 1% to 3% and lasts for around two hours. It is best suited for summer occasions.
Other than the above-listed perfumes, there are also some types of perfumes like the Aftershave and the Mist. The aftershave on its own holds a high alcohol content and a light fragrance concentration of about 3% and lasts for around one to two hours. On the other hand, mists are water-based, holding a low alcohol content with a concentration of about 1% to 3%. They last for about 2 hours and are safe to apply on the hair.
